   This protein powder actually tastes really good for being plant-based. Compared to other plant-based proteins I’ve had, the flavor of this one is much better. I don’t taste the plant base as much. Made with peas, amaranth, quinoa, and assorted mushrooms, it does a great job masking the earthy flavors. The texture, however, isn’t perfect—it’s a bit grainy, but that’s something I’ve noticed with all plant-based protein powders. The packaging is made from a paper material that’s stated to be 100% compostable and features a zip-lock closure that allows the bag to be resealed. It also comes with a long scooper. The powder is very fine, and with the way the bag is shaped, I always seem to spill a little bit of protein powder every time I take a scoop. Overall, the flavor is great because I taste the chocolate rather than the pea flavor, though the texture is a little grainy, which is typical for plant-based protein powders. The 26g of protein for only 120 calories is also an excellent ratio.

   What I do really like about this protein powder is that it doesn’t have the same aftertaste that I’ve come to expect from vegan products. The vanilla flavor actually taste more like a cake batter or ice cream, but that wasn’t an issue necessarily. I did find that if adding this powder to a larger volume of liquid, it was very hard to mix, but what I did was to treat it like a gravy, and use a minimal amount of liquid to powder, and I used a small hand froth, or and once that was well mixed, I’d slowly adding the rest of my liquid and it was fine.

   I try a lot of protein mixes and I have to say that whey is much smoother and tastier but Platfusion did a good job with this mix, which is fairly tasty and mixes well despite the pea protein component. The nutrition is good with the 18g of protein and a couple essentials. They throw in a half gram of greens which is great though not much. I’m not motivated or impressed with the mushroom contents but some people may be. They use stevia for the sweetener and it’s probably the best and healthiest sweetener but it does leave a chemically after taste and when you combine that with the pea protein, it’s not the best. It’s not horrible, but I’ve had better. I like the compostable bag idea. We’ll see if that works in a couple months.

   Unlike most of the others reviewing this product, I ordered this product more for the flavor than the nutritional value. A few reasons for this: 1) the ingredients are provided clearly in the product information (I also provided photos of the packaging), 2) my idea of “nutritional value” may not be your idea of “nutritional value”, so it’s a worthless opinion to share, and 3) the amount I consume per day is so marginal, it hardly helps or hurts me, nutritionally. I just sprinkle less than half a scoop in warm milk and add it to my coffee once a morning, like a mocha. That’s why I’m focused on the flavoring (in my case, chocolate), which is great IMO, and the mixability, which is not as great. The flavor is superior to most of the chocolate mixes I’ve tried in the past (which is more than you’d think). It doesn’t taste “chalky” like some, nor does it require your imagination to fill in the absence of flavor like others; it tastes like chocolate to me! As far as the mixability goes, if they didn’t make a claim that it “mixes instantly”, I might be less disappointed. As has been said elsewhere, this is your average light-powder protein mix, and when it’s added to my warm milk, it floats in chunks. A spoon stir doesn’t do much, so I have to put a lid on it and shake aggressively. Even then, it quickly settles to the bottom (that’s when the spoon helps). I would give it 2.5 stars for mixability, but since that’s not an option, I’m rounding it up. Bottom line, the enjoyable chocolate flavor makes up for the hassle of having to shake it, so I’m recommending it at four stars.

   Looks as advertised. For a 100% compostable packaging, it surprisingly reseals very well, just like ziplock. The flavors/scent of pea protein, amaranth, blueberry, maitake, and stevia are very prominent. I was hoping to taste the cocoa more but unfortunately you only smell the cocoa more than you taste it since the stevia is so overpowering. Not a fan of stevia since it has that weird sweet artificial aftertaste. IMO, they should just remove the stevia altogether and just let the consumer sweeten the beverage with their sweetener of choice. The powder is very fine but it does not blend well with soy milk since it took a good minute to manually blend it in the shaker. It’ll probably blend better in liquids that are not as dense like water, oat milk, or pea protein milk. With soy milk, the texture was a bit chalky. Appreciate the organic ingredients but that unfortunately makes it more expensive compared to competitors. However, the shake was definitely gentler on my stomach and easier to digest thanks to the fermented ingredients. No bloat. This would be great for those who struggle with digesting protein. If they remove the stevia, I’d definitely consider purchasing again. Expiration 6/2026

   Y’all, as much as I would like to be, I’m just not a protein powder person. They all (including this one) are chalky and have a weird aftertaste. That said, if you *are* a protein powder person, this is probably just as good as any other. I do appreciate that the packaging is compostable and the protein comes from plants.

   This seems to be pretty high-quality protein with a lot of extras in it that make it a winner nutritionally. The problem is that it just doesn’t taste very good. I tried using this multiple times as a standalone shake, and I just can’t do it. Even when combined into something like a green smoothie comma it’s far less than agreeable period there is a very odd after taste to this protein powder that I just can’t get by. And besides that, it doesn’t really take like vanilla. It tastes like something vanilla adjacent. To add insult to injury, this protein doesn’t mix very well, even with a shaker ball. I ended up using a small milk frothier to help “declumpify” it, but it’s still just OK. I have a habit of automatically adding one point to vegan protein, just because it’s always less than impressive compared to non-vegan. Even with the plus one, this only gets up to three for me.

   Plant based protein tend not to be my usual choice of protein or shakes but I know to expect plant based powders to taste a little chalky, as this one does, but it’s not as bad as some others I’ve tasted before. The natural chocolate flavor is good, closer to a dark chocolate or pure cocoa flavor rather than the sweeter milk chocolate type. I prefer this way, less sweet. Also, because I don’t like shakes too sweet, I usually add a little more liquid than the instructions so here I mixed two scoops with about 20oz total of water and 2% milk to get my ideal sweetness. It mixes very easy on my blender bottle and did not feel grainy, just that little expected chalky taste. I definitely like the all organic composition and healthy aspects, plus 18g of protein and only 120 calories per scoop. Two scoops in 20oz drink makes it a great meal replacement for me, as this shake is filling and made me feel satisfied and not hungry for a good 4 hours.
