   It tastes pretty good for protein powder! It does have this weird foam that develops on top after you blend it, but it’s easy to scoop off. Easy to blend and mix. Not really great to mix with coffee though. Or probably anything hot? Tastes better with a beverage than with plain water

   With 18g of protein and only 14 servings per package, if feels like you’re basically paying for the mushrooms here. I’m not totally sold on whether that makes any real difference, but I will say that, while it does taste a little mushroomy, it isn’t a bad flavor at all. Overall, I generally prefer the flavor to any alternative protein blend that contains a bunch of sucralose. I believe there is some stevia in here, so you get a little of that “not quite sugar” taste, but it’s far better than sucralose, at least to my tastebuds. I think the manufacturer should post a photo of the ingredients on here for the listing, so I’m posting one in its place. The protein comes from a blend of pea protein, amaranth and quinoa. There’s no information on the label regarding vitamin content, which is a little odd, but at least calcium, iron and sodium are listed. Apart from that, you’ve got some MCTs and adaptogens and enzymes…whatever that may mean to you, personally! It’s a good, and probably worth a shot if you want to kill two birds with one stone with the mushroom and protein combo. However, if you are looking for a protein first and foremost, it’s probably not going to be the best value for your needs.

Half my team at work is drinking it with me everyday and they notice a huge difference in their energy and mental clarity. I mix it with almond milk, a banana, spinach and frozen fruit.    As a vegan, I’m always looking for ways to “get my protein”. This powder blends really well in water and tastes similar to other vanilla protein powders. There is a mushroomy aftertaste that can be a little off-putting. Mushroom aftertaste would be normal if you just ate pasta and mushrooms, but it’s a weird thing to experience after drinking a vanilla protein shake. If you’re sensitive to sugar substitutes, this does include Stevia as a sweetener. Personally I would prefer they had just used cane sugar instead, but some people do care about counting carbs and this only had 1g of sugar per serving (5g of carbs per serving) so if you’re watching your carbs, this might suit your needs well. If you can get past the aftertaste, this protein powder is pretty good. It is a little cost prohibitive compared to other protein powders (per lb) and I can’t say I noticed a huge difference in my focus/relaxation from the mushrooms.

    I must admit I was skeptical at first about a mushroom protein powder. I’m not a fan of mushroom flavor and also know that mushrooms have a wide range of benefits. The powder is very fine and dissolved easily in cold water with very little effort required to completely blend it in. The flavor is vanilla forward, and there is only the slightest earthly aftertaste. Most protein powders you find are only just that, but this mushroom protein powder contains so much more. I’d gladly drink this daily for all the many benefits this powder provides.

    Good news is the putty known as Play-Doh is non-toxic, however, it doesn’t make the similarity that drinking this mushroom compound is so much as if I was drinking liquid play-doh, an exact translation of the scent I’ve associated with the putty that not too long ago I was using to fashion a prop for my music video for my new original song ‘The Food of Saints’ I released last month on my YouTube Music Artist channel, so pulling it from a recent scent memory and not years back. Now when I had been making that prop, I also had read up its product data sheet by Hasbro that says it (Play-Doh) is mostly made of water salt and flour, so this taste isn’t something not edible, but something like basic flour, gritty and earthy, not having any added flavors yet to turn it into the delicious flavors it can become in cakes and sweet breads. Now this was when I had mixed this PlantFusion Mushroom Protein Powder Supplement in plain water, as that was one of the 2 preparation choices given how to drink – water or beverage of choice – and I expected that unless it had some sweetener added to it, whatever taste would be plain and rooty, however, I didn’t expect a spot-on ringer for Play-Doh if it were liquefied. However, I will say that I will endure any disagreeable taste if what I am drinking is beneficial for me to have, as I am all grown up and do not need to bribe myself to neither eat my vegetables or clean my plate; ok, sometimes I do have trouble getting myself to go to bed on time, but, that’s another story. That said, this Play-Doh dead-ringer taste I could take if this I feel gives me important positives as I see it, at this time, however, I just tried it, so it is too early for me to see any nays or yays, except that it set well with me despite I drank the equivalence of 2 yellow Play-Doh containers. If I can daily drink a calcium supplement I mix with my coffee that tastes like drinking cigarette butts, liquid Play-Doh is far more tolerable. All the same, half way drinking it I dropped in some chopped frozen pineapple and it took off a bit of that edge and gave more natural sweet, and let me at the end entirely remove any negatives eating the defrosted fruit left behind in the cup. My gripe with this supplement, is my same gripe with all other vitamin and supplement manufacturers who sell in single container that simply fails to contain an entire month’s supply, period, and so it really is unfair and makes the product in reality double price or more in order to have it on a daily basis. PlantFusion’s page has done the same thing here, no where showing the info on the package that states the bag received for the price received only has 14 servings, that is LESS than half a month. So, on top of that, it is not said that in order to get the benefits if this needs to be consumed daily, every other day, twice a week, etc, and kind of a trickery in order to stay quiet more is actually required, and that perhaps not enough is given, that it needs to be used every day, and intermittent use just doesn’t cut it? There are some products you can benefit having once or twice a week, is this one? Or is this like, say, metamucil or colace that you need to take daily, and the days you don’t, your energy poops out (pun intended), your brain stays foggy etc? This one bag is not cheap, I would consider it the price for a full month of pricier supplement, but that it is only for 14 days, that makes this on the much higher scale of other mushroom compounds. I take regularly Aloha Medicinals, and this 2 weeks of powder equals one month of Aloha’s mushrooms which I consider pricey, although those are pills and not as diverse a compound as this PlantFusion mix claims to be. Which brings me to another thing, on the back of the bag is a list of wonderful good things this can do, with each having a symbol that goes to a matching statement at the bag’s bottom that the statements are not evaluated by the FDA, not intended to treat, cure, etc standard disclaimer. I’m into mushrooms, I think they’re good, and lots of publications to read about their benefits. Usually, if I like a supplement like this not having enough to last the month, I just half the serving, and choose to get intermittent benefits, as this is not a one-in-all supplement, and I cap what I spend on all the varying vitamins and supplements I may use, as to me it is all about balance in every way, as fortunately there are a lot of choices these days to find something similar that may do the same and let your life improve from these things, rather than have you live for affording these things. If reap some benefits from, if there are some to get, that time will tell, but do feel a little mental perk from having just drunk it, or is that from getting worked up at thinking of the 14-days-only amount? Hmmm… Maybe I oughta bottle the second, call it “Outrage” and dub it more stimulating than 5x caffeine; any sharks out there willing to invest? ;o)

    This product is a good alternative to the more traditional method of taking mushroom supplements (capsules) and especially good if one doesn’t like taking capsules. We’re not averse to capsules, but we have a protein shake every morning and this seemed like a good way to have a 2 in 1 breakfast. We mixed the 2 scoop dose with milk in a blender. It makes a thin shake with a very nice vanilla flavor. We’re not perceiving any mushroomy flavor or any off flavors. If one is looking for a thick filling shake — this won’t provide that experience unless some form of thickener is added. We thought we were pretty familiar with the ‘shroom world, but we had to look up three of the ones listed on the label, and we added a little to our mushroom knowledge. Information on all the listed mushrooms is readily available online, or at the public library. We’d recommend doing your own research. Value for the dollar – for us, this is a bit on the pricey side and more of a treat/exploration than a product we can afford to purchase regularly.
