I have been using hemp powder for many years. It is my way of getting protein in my diet since I do not eat meat. I usually get Hemp Yeah which has 13g of protein and I decided to give give Organic Plant-based Hemp Seeds Protein Powder by Hemplete a chance. This is now my “go to” Hemp Protein! This is the first time that I’ve tried hemp protein and I’m pleasantly surprised. Hemp hearts are a complete source of protein that are packed with nutrients. I like that this is organic and a plant-based protein. It’s also a huge plus that it’s unflavored. I can put it in my shakes and smoothies without worrying about it affecting the taste. Unlike other plant based proteins that don’t blend well and leave behind a gritty or chalky taste, this powder easily blends into my shakes and smoothies without leaving behind anything. I’ve been using this in my protein shakes after my workouts and I feel like my muscle recovery time has improved. I like that you get 17 grams of protein in only 3 tablespoons. Getting that amount of protein in a serving, helps keep me feeling full for longer periods of time. This protein powder is a great addition to my pantry. I highly recommend giving it a try!

Even though it’s unflavored, like all other unflavored proteins it does have a unique taste and it does alter the taste of whatever you put it in. For example, I mixed a tablespoon of this in with my usual brown rice and pea protein shake I make and I could immediately tell something was different. It’s not a bad taste though, just different and it’s one of the few I don’t mind drinking with just water by itself. The resealable bag has a very thin zipper on it, but it’s worked great so far. It mixes well in my shaker, no clumping.
About the 100% organic thing, I was curious why there was no USDA certification (or another organization) on the bag but it says organic everywhere. I looked up their website and they say that while the hemp powder does qualify for USDA organic status, they haven’t gone through the certification process because it’s expensive. I can understand that, and that’s fair in my opinion (assuming you take them at their word and since I appreciate the honesty I will). I did notice that this is a lot easier on my stomach than pea protein.
