   Product arrived with powder on the outside. Figured It was from the factory or seal was broken. Latter was true. When I opened it the seal stayed with the top. This shouldn’t happen. To my surprise there were black and brown stains on card stock seal and the foil was torn. I suspected mold at first but changed because there seemed to be a burnt smell. After smelling closely the burnt smell was confirmed. Aha! Too much heat used during the sealing process burned and compromised the packaging. Please fix this. Turn down the heat, don’t leave it under the heat for long or both. Shoot, change factories for all I care. But based on reviews, stuff like this started happening in 2019 where it wasn’t happening before. Not good for my first experience as a customer and for company reputation, especially given that it’s still happening mid-2020. I want to try and like this product but can’t now. Sucks because now I have to spend more money on protein for the next couple of days. Please make this right.

   OK, let me be honest about why I purchased protein powder. I donate plasma twice a week and keeping protein levels high enough so I qualify for that day’s donation can be a bit tricky because I go at 6AM. I really don’t want to get up and cook breakfast at 4:30AM so I decided to try a protein powder.

   To continue my honesty, I wanted Isolate powder because I was told it’s the fastest digesting. And the Nutricost brand was less expensive and 3rd party tested so I chose it. Deciding on the flavor was difficult because I expected any flavor to taste phoney, be gritty, and not mix easily. Wrong! Wrong! Wrong! It mixes very easily using a chopstick, spoon, or a handheld immersion blender – less than 15 seconds! I ordered Mocha, and though it’s more chocolate than coffee flavored, I like it a lot because it’s not sickeningly sweet. I mixed1 scoop with 6oz. water and was unexpectedly pleased. Tomorrow I’ll try it with milk and maybe mix it with yogurt another day.

   I am truly surprised at the quality and flavor. I certainly see why it has so many 5 star reviews.

   I know they sell a chocolate peanut butter powder, but I like the thicker consistency I get when I mix in Naked PB. Nutricost might have limited exciting marketing material and a plain container, but their product is all around better than the competition. They beat out others who most have twice the amount of positive reviews in almost every macro. Nutricost has more BCAAs in it, and BCAAs, particularly leucine, stimulate muscle protein synthesis, which is crucial for muscle growth. Nutricost has 30G of protein per serving, while many to most will only have 25. They also have less sugar than most of their competitors. There is also a fair spread of beneficial essential vitamins like iron, potassium, and magnesium. I like that it comes in a 5lb tub, which means I have at least a couple weeks’ worth of protein, and I keep a couple on hand, so I never stick to one flavor for too long. As tasty as the stuff is you need to mix and match to avoid getting tired of any one flavor. Variety is the spice of life, and they have a lot of classic flavors to choose from. Finally, and this will likely be what is most important to a lot of people is cost. I pay roughly $65, but lets round that up to 70 because I like simple numbers. At 60 servings per container, and if you choose to do 2 scoops per shake, you’re looking at 30 shakes per container. That comes out to $2.33 a shake. 60G of additional protein every day for a whole month. Whether you’re planning to increase your protein for a bulk cycle or simply trying to supplement some protein intake while losing weight, this stuff is where it’s at.

   The good: 1. Tastes amazing! To me this tastes like actual strawberry milkshake. I take this 50/50 with my unflavored protein to make this more friendly to my palette but it’s totally not necessary. 2. Smaller but fuller container. 3. Not labeled as “blend” and GMP compliant so likely a clean quality supplement. The bad: 1. Scoop size is not 37g as advertised so you have to do your own math on how many calories or grams of protein you get per serving with a 30g scoop that they provide. Not a big deal but just know you won’t be getting 30grams of protein with the scoop that comes wit hit. It’s more like 25g like everyone else.

    I’ve tried almost every well-rated protein on the market. Recently it appears that the price of Whey Protein Isolate brands have skyrocketed so I decided to try this on the Cyber Monday deal. I usually get a chocolate or vanilla protein. This is by far, the WORST tasting protein I’ve ever had. It is so overly fake sweet that it’ll make your lips pucker. So hard to chug down. If you’re going to buy this protein, you should probably stick to the flavorless option.

    I have really liked this vanilla protein powder. I’ve been trying to get more protein and I ordered this brand’s vanilla and chocolate protein isolate. I use a pint mason jar with a metal whisk mixer that drops in to mix them up. The vanilla has a pretty good flavor on its own, but I like to mix it with 4 oz of milk 2-3 oz of a chai spice tea (I make a quart of it and leave it in the fridge), and then water to the 10 oz line. It mixes up very smooth, then add ice and it’s a delicious spicy drink. I also like it with a little added p e r o, which is a barley drink that is a coffee substitute. The not sugar in these gives them way more sweetness than I like, and I don’t like fake sugar the taste of it, so I have to cut it with something bitter or spicy to make it work for me. But for the money especially this is a great protein shake. I don’t think I would buy the chocolate again just because of how sweet it is to me. I’ve tried cutting it with the coffee substitute and with peppermint but it still is just too sweet for me. I was a little disappointed that they don’t blend into hot drinks at all, you just end up with big chunks of stuff. Maybe I did it wrong I don’t know but it was a waste of a shake.

    I have been buying this product for at least three+ years and have always liked the fact “it seemed” to be a clean product with no added sugar and additives. That is no longer the truth. Perhaps they have always added the new items as not much changed on the label with exception of new ingredients (which includes sucralose) and 10 more calories – but the label also does not indicate any sugar content, so much for transparency! BTW, they have also included a Prop65 warning on the label which is also concerning! Here’s the response to my question regarding the new labeling from eSupplement’s customer service department: “We have recently added the prop65 warning to some of our products to disclose any important information that isn’t on the label. The product has not changed, but we wanted to give a disclaimer!” and their response to the added ingredients: “We recently made a few changes to the protein to enhance the flavor and improve the product.” Both responses were from the SAME person. First she said the product hadn’t changed then stated they made changes to the protein (shakes head.) Needless to say, I returned my product and am spending more money on CLEAN protein with no sugar! You get what you pay for when buying protein powder, spend a little more money for clean protein.

    I tried my first one fourth scoop of this product with 10 ounces of coffee. I used an immersion blender for seven minutes. it wouldn’t blend out and remained chunky and inconsumable. They won’t let me return it so I wasted $42 on protein that I cannot use. I should’ve stuck with my Aldi protein powder that is half the price and actually blends out.

    I enjoy Nutricost protein products and believe that it helps me to build up and keep my muscles. I usually purchased Mocha flavored ones but tried Unflavored one this time. I consumed about half way of the container and a week ago I saw a few dark spots on the surface of the powder by chance but just ignored and stirred it and then it seemed gone. A couple of days ago when I looked in the container, I found that they came back like in the picture. I don’t know what it is but they for sure are not foreign material because they are still powder substance. I’m not going to take it any more but I will try a new one. Or is it natural?

    I’m not worried about calories. This choice is based on having a quick digest pre/post workout. Otherwise I do enjoy muscle milk and syntha 6. Casein and base whey protein powders are good to keep the protein steady. For such a large and expensive container I took a leap of faith with this purchase based on reviews. Mixes easy with a spoon and water. The taste isn’t very chocolate like, but it’s not chalky and far from vanilla. Taste is very sweet despite the lack of sugar. My wife thought it was too sweet in her opinion. Considering that the sweetness was the only possible issue, it’s a winner in my book. Personal use is for muscle recovery and building.

    I got the Salted Caramel flavor, and it taste amazing – a bit on the sweeter side, but that’s what I like since I have a sweet tooth. No funny whey aftertaste at all!     Don’t really leave too many reviews but this kind of warranted one. I thought some of the reviews people left about this were crazy, my first 5lb container was great. Super happy with everything. Second one, meh not soo much, the taste was a bit off or stale possibly, but whatever, I figured maybe that was a one off or something. Third one was also the same but this time I couldn’t get it to mix very well, kind of upset me, but I powered through it because… well… cheap. Now the fourth, also the same! Really disappointed, but half way through I almost choked on a piece of plastic. It was quite tiny and figured it had to of been my fault. Being the glutton for punishment that I am, I continued and toward the end, I got a huge piece of plastic, that cut up my mouth quite bad. I included the picture. However, the main reason I chose this Nutricost was because it was the most cost effective protein powder according to the images provided by the seller and cost. The images said that there are 68 servings of protein, however, upon receiving the product there is only 65 servings in the container. This is misleading and false advertising. This company is using bait and switch scheme, advertising way more than the product delivers ultimately giving the customer less than what they paid for.     I bought this because: 1. the cost is lower than other whey isolates; 2. it’s unflavored (usually I find flavored stuff to be too sweet or chemically tasting); 3. its made in the USA; 4. the ratings from bestproteinpowder4women.net users are generally positive. I just got my shipment today, and made up a shake before going on a bike ride. I kept it simple for the first time – I put a scoop in a half-size cocktail shaker with about 6 oz. of whole milk and gave it a quick shake (see the attached photo). The powder mixed up fine; a very small amount of it remained at the bottom – didn’t get mixed up in the shaker – but I think I can avoid that by stirring the mixture a bit with a spoon before shaking. The taste was fairly neutral – something like good-quality powdered milk. I’ll try adding my own flavorings next time – fruit, jam, etc. Protein = 30g per scoop, 6g +/- for the milk = 36g (about the same as 6 eggs.

    in the photos, the left “vanilla flavored” is the new formula and on the right “vanilla” is the old formula. i’ve been drinking the old formula for a year and consuming the 5lbs every 1-2 months, my order on september 7th was normal but my most recent order on november 30th is a different formula sold as the same product. the only major difference in the packaging is the label for the new formula is “vanilla flavored” instead of “vanilla”. the new flavor is way too heavy on artificial vanilla and tastes like bottom shelf protein powder. it no longer thickens in water/milk like it used to, so my shakes are watery and gross. I won’t purchase any Nutricost product again, i’m so sad because I loyally bought 40lbs of their whey isolate in the past year 🙁

    I found and have been using this brand of protein for the last year and felt like I found THE go-to protein. When I first started purchasing in 2017 both the vanilla and chocolate had ZERO clumps and would dissolve completely with one or two shakes. Now in December 2018 there is noticeably more clumping and grit. I fear there has been more artificial flavors added or diminishing product quality. It is sad and because of this they might be losing once was before going to be a permanent customer.
