   I generally like “clear” protein because I like to be able to control my intake of nutrients separately from each other. The Fruit Punch form Nuticost is not “perfect” but it’s for a reason. Mostly, there is a little carp content because they have decided to include a defoamer. I really don’t object to the decision because foam is always a problem. Having said that, this is not foamless. Mixing this with a shaker ball is very easy with the right amount of water but there is still foam. I would say that the foam dissipates much faster than other clear proteins I have tried, so overall, this is still quite a win. The Fruit Punch flavor is bright and tastes a lot like what you’d expect Like a fruit punch from Hawaii). It’s on the sweet side, bhut that’s what I expect from something with that name. It’s very on point, and I like it a lot. (I think it’s ridiculous to complain that “fruit punch” flavor is too sweet.) But again, the best part is that this protein is 87% protein by calories. It gives a lot of control over how you eat.

   Absolutely terrible. Way too sweet. Foamy. Doesn’t blend well. I was really hoping this product would be good since I like most other nutricost products, but this is disgusting. I diluted it by double and it’s still way too sweet.

   This is, without a doubt, the absolute worst protein powder I have ever had the displeasure of tasting. I genuinely think I’ve had gas station protein shakes that were more enjoyable—and that’s saying something. I’ve eaten burnt toast that had a more appealing flavor profile. The moment you mix this stuff, it transforms into a frothy, undrinkable nightmare. It doesn’t dissolve; it mutates into an unholy foam that feels like I’m drinking a weird, protein-infused bubble bath. There’s no actual liquid to enjoy—just a mouthful of disappointment and regret. I was so appalled that I actually repackaged it, hoping to get a refund. Unfortunately, due to health regulations (which, to be fair, make sense), they won’t take it back. So now I’m out $40 and left with a tub of useless, undrinkable protein foam.

   I wasn’t sure what to expect when I got this drink. I was pleasantly surprised. It taste good. I have always liked fruit punch. I am always looking for ways to up my protein content. I fast a lot and when breaking a longer fast, I need protein that is gentle on my system. It foames quite a bit when mixing it up, but I let it sit for a few minutes and when the foam settles down, I add a little ice and drink it. The price point is acceptable. I can see buying more of this in my future.

   This review is for Nutricost Clear Whey Protein Isolate 2 LBS (Fruit Punch Flavored).

   So right off the bat, 20g of protein in a 27g scoop is pretty good. Definitely clear proteins with a better ratio out there but this isn’t bad. You can taste the intense sweetness from the Sucralose in this but I find that it works ok because “Hawaiian Punch” has ALWAYS been the type of drink that was overly sweet. So this, to me, is on the of the rare times it works ok. I was also happy to see they use beet root powder for color instead of fake dyes. Overall, pretty good clear protein. I had no trouble mixing it in water.

    Flavor is actually pretty good. Reminds me more of cotton candy. It doesn’t dissolve easily but eventually does. Recommendation is to do half the amount of liquid, shake it till most of it dissolves, wait for the foaming to go down and then add more liquid. That worked best for me.

    I try a ton of different protein powders and every once and a while I’ll throw in some clear isolate to switch things up. Usually, protein powders result in a thicker, milkshake type of beverage. Once clear isolate started popping up, it felt more like you were drinking a post workout sports drink that was not as thick, making it easier to drink. Label is not too bad, I’d prefer if “natural flavors” wasn’t on there but not the end of the world. With 20g of protein per serving, I like to double scoop if it doesn’t make the drink too thick. It took a while to dissolve all the powder (probably 4-5 mins of shaking) but then I had a nice red color and no chunks. Flavor is great, tastes just like fruit punch, I’d be interested in trying some other flavors from the same brand.

    This was the 2nd clear whey protein I have tried from Nutricost and I’m really enjoying it. Great flavor and the kind of drink that you can sit and enjoy as a meal replacement. Having struggled with how it mixes while using another flavor, make sure and heed the instructions and start with the recommended 6-10 oz of water. More water in the mixing cup just seems to add to more foam which prevents it from mixing (i.e., preventing it from dissolving). It’s better to make 2 batches rather than one big one. Once you know that, this protein is great and a nice change of pace from chocolate or vanilla powders of the past. Also I did not experience any bloat or stomach upset with this. A solid thumbs up (as long as you follow the mixing instructions).
