   More than the packaging changed. The old product was 3 tablespoons per serving but now it’s 4 tablespoons per serving to get the same 15g of protein in a 30g serving. The “same product new packaging” now effectively costs more because you’re getting servings per 1lb container! Shame on you Nutiva. I’ve been a customer for years but I’ll be looking for a new protein powder.

   I wish I could leave feed back for the actual product but it came hard as a damn brick! I can’t even get it to soften up. Any other powder products I have purchased have never come in this form. Even if it is an air tight seal, it’s one hell of a seal to make the powder that hard.

   I bought the 16 oz. size to try it out. I really like the taste. I blended it with chia seeds, flax, blueberries and banana. I bought it for a protein meal replacement. I have an allergy to whey, soy doesn’t agree with me, and I wanted an unsweetened protein with all the aminos. I will definitely purchase a larger size when this runs out!

   It does have a taste to it that would not be good without fruit in it. When fruit IS in the mix YUM. And I love that it’s ingredients are simply hemp. Nothing more. And you can’t be a whole 15g of protein from such a pure product.

   I have been using this protein powder daily for 3 months now. I use 3 tbsp in my smoothie every single morning. For the last 2 months, I haven’t been feeling 100% myself. I have a sensitivity to MSG and react badly to it. I knew for sure I had not eaten anything containing MSG because I have eaten no processed foods at all, only whole foods. I have cooked everything I’ve eaten, and not eaten outside my home at all. The only thing I have eaten from a container is this powder. I have been having headaches, my hands keep going numb, and my heart has been racing. At first I thought there was something wrong with me. I didn’t suspect the powder because I thought it was perfectly fine since it only contains 1 ingredient, and it’s organic. A few weeks ago, I had the worst period of my life. Extremely heavy and cramping so bad I was doubled over in pain. I had to take pain medication it was so bad. This is extremely rare for me! The period ended and I was ready to consult a doctor about all of these symptoms. THEN I got my next batch of powder in the mail…. and on it, was a sticker I had never seen before. It stated the product had been known to cause reproductive harm and birth defects!!!!! I knew immediately that was why I had such an awful period. I checked my other container that was almost empty, and the sticker was no where on it. Right now I’m thanking God this container had the sticker, or I might not have ever suspected the hemp protein being the cause. Since discovering this, I have stopped using it and wouldn’t you know, the symptoms are fading. I checked with my health coach, and she told me that because this hemp is highly processed to extreme temperature degrees, it contains very large amounts of msg and a whole host of other nasty surprises including aspartame, which is listed in the amino acids section of this product as aspartic acid. Do yourself a big favor, and DO NOT buy this product!!

   Really surprised after I had used about 3 Tablespoons of the product I came across a chunk of hard almost crispy like piece. I don’t know if there’s more but it certainly was a disappointment. So I can’t give this product a 5 star rating. UPDATE: I had an allergic reaction to this product! I am NOT ALLERGIC to any hemp seed. BUT I AM ALLERGIC TO PEAS! The odd thing is that with this product it you wouldn’t know if it’s green pea powder or hemp seed because both are green. This product is extremely green. So….it makes me wonder? Needless to say after my face swelled and I had severe red splotches this product went into the trash! I will buy from Manitoba Harvest on here as I have had no issues with them. I do not recommend this product if you are allergic to peas, beans or legumes.

    I had bought this before and loved it. This time the powder seemed to really irritate my throat, and I have stopped using it. I noticed something rather strange and disturbing on the container: the date stamp said two different things. It was stamped “BEST BEFORE 24 SEP 14 R14, and then next to this, 24 SEP 15. The ink of the 2014 date matched the “Best Before” ink; the second date’s ink was lighter, and the text was crooked. I don’t know what’s up with this, but from now on I will buy it from a local shop. I buy a lot of things on bestproteinpowder4women.net, and this has been my only complaint. The first time I bought this product it was great. I don’t know what the dates were on those 2 jars because I had no reason to look that closely at them. This time, the stuff really seemed strange, and I felt like I was allergic to it, which is why I noticed the date. Also strange, it had 2 labels on it (identical). The dates were on the plastic jar, not the label(s).

    I love vega protein powder. I’ve only tried the vanilla and liked a lot.     It is unflavored, so will need a dominant flavor like pineapple. It has a pleasant smell. A previous hemp protein( another brand) smelled and tasted bad, so I vowed never to buy hemp protein again. I had to give up all legumes, so I am trying a few gluten-free, flax-free, legume-free ( includes, pea, peanuts,soy,carob, etc,) protein powders

    I received it today, cracked it right open and put it in a smoothie with fruits and coconut milk with some supplements. My family loved it, despite the slight green color. I didn’t feel the taste was overpowering at all. The reason for 3 stars is that it expires in Feb 2018. There is only a year shelf life, which is already a little short but ok, but I’m receiving it when it’s already 6 months into the year shelf life. This is disappointing. I don’t like to feel rushed to use up a product, when I just received it.

    I’ve been using this product off and on for a couple years. But, as so many of us do, I’m back on it every day because of health needs. My cholesterol is actually at the high end of normal, but I have a strong family history of heart attacks, so my doctor wants my cholesterol 40 points lower. I did it once before with this product and hemp seed oil. Yes, hemp protein tastes like sand. But, mixed in with whatever you use for your smoothies, it just adds a slight nutty flavor. This picture is of this morning’s smoothie – a few strawberries, an avocado, pom juice, filtered water, Nutiva Hemp Seed Protein. Tastes really good. I also include in with Orgain vanilla or chocolate meal replacement once in a while. Doesn’t affect the flavor. Getting serious about lowering my cholesterol isn’t going to involve only adding this to my diet. It’s been several years since I’ve reduced meat consumption down to a little turkey once in a while. Otherwise, I eat no other animal products. I’m also going to start exercising again. I have a follow up appointment with my dr to check on my cholesterol in 3 months. He prescribed me a statin. I’m not going to take it before the 3 month appointment so I can see how the hemp products work. My bad cholesterol is right in the middle of the range they tell us all to be at, but since my cardiologist wants it a lot lower because of family history, I’m going to try it with natural products, rather than synthetic. Another benefit is the fiber. This will help you poop. Sorry if this is too graphic, but it’s not watery poops. It’s solid. But a LOT. It’s wonderful! This is all just personal experience. I’m not an expert, I just read a lot about health and nutrition. I’ve had several immediate family members die of heart attacks at young ages. I’ll avoid that if I can.

    I used to be an avid user of Nutiva’s Hempseed protein powder, however, after probably my 1000th purchase, it appears their products no longer live up to their reputation. Every single order/replacement I have received lists different ingredients/nutrients than what is advertised. I have finally decided to post this review, so you may try to find a better, more consistent company in which to purchase the amazing benefits of hempseed protein. Please see the posted picture before buying in case you are interested in the added benefits of zinc and magnesium. They no longer list this product is Hexane free and are gradually reducing their servings/nutrients in hopes you don’t notice. This is no longer worth the bang for your buck.     I have a food issue and foods cause me to flare. So I was skeptic about buying this. I use it in the morning with fresh fruit and almond milk and oats to make a cold sometimes hot cereal. And it seems to curve my appetite for the rest of the day. I already use CBD oil for holistic therapy and figured I would be my own demo for this product. I’m going to buy more and use it for a full 30 days and update once I’m done. So far so good. Almost forgot, the flavor is nutty and can be enhanced with almond butter or used alone as the nutty source. I would say to think outside the box if you decide to use. Your taste buds will thank you for it. Update: It’s weeks later and I’m still using this product. Highly recommended if you have food allergies. I used this with a meal plan and lost 40+ lbs in 10 weeks eating what I want. And I added no weight loss supplements.

    Great quality. When you receive this hemp it is a vacuum sealed block, they wasted no space. I use this in my morning smoothies, granted this is a somewhat acquired taste, but it is absolutely packed with nutrients and protein. I have tried other brands that were slightly cheaper, but the other brand tasted chalky and not as much like a actual plant like this product. This product is very fine grain, almost like sand, i guess. I am a active weightlifter and i Highly recommend, i seem to keep buying month after month.

Note: Higher calories!!! No longer states “No Hexane” I contacted customer support.
