The early reviews of Build dietary supplement by LTH seem to be “mixed” as to aftertaste and chocolatiness. I’m no connoisseur in such matters, but I don’t taste any aftertaste. I mix Build according to the directions in a Vitamix with whole milk, a banana sometimes, and a little ice, and what I do taste is a health drink on par with your average chocolate milkshake. And it does mix well. It’s not the cheapest 30g of whey out there, but it’s grass-fed and I figure I’m also getting a decent-sized multi-vitamin for my buck. In fact I’m thinking about going on a vitamin holiday, using just Build, and see how I feel in a few weeks. For now, if I had a Golden Buzzer, I’d press it in regard to Build’s performance.

The LTH Build Whey & All-in-One Chocolate Mix seems to be a quality protein/meal shake. I like that it doesn’t have a lot of sugar. I tried it as the directions stated with the two scoops and water and found the chocolate flavor to be pretty good but the after taste to be pretty bad. I think if you’re used to the plant derived sweeteners, you might not mind the after taste. I also tried mixing it into other things like yogurt and coffee and found it more tolerable.

Yeah…..no. Hard no. Not sure how others are able to rate this so high, but I have to assume they altered it or mixed it with something else. Maybe they used water. I always mix my shake mixes with milk, so that’s what I did.
The consistency is closer to a goop than a shake. Comparing it something on ON, Fairlife, Muscle Milk, etc, this one just felt off. Tasted off too. Calling this chocolate is a stretch. I’m assuming they added a single Herseys mini candy piece into a vat of whatever the main ingredient is and said “Yeah, that’s good enough” because that’s as close to chocolate as it tastes to me. I’ve tried probably 30 different shake powders by now, and while this one isn’t like drinking sand like some of the ones at the bottom of my list, it’s still down there.
This already went straight into the trash.

The chocolate is far better than the vanilla flavor wise – it’s actually fairly enjoyable – while not being the best I’ve ever had. But the cost is still very high with no reason I can see to justify it – the ingredients are stock standard for a “good” product – but the price is that of a “great” or “high end” product.
A stevia sweetened shake is fairly tough to find, but it shouldn’t add 50-100% to the cost by any means.
That said, it’s a quality protein shake – it mixes well and has a nice mouthfeel and the ingredients are good. If it’s on a big sale it is well worth buying the chocolate flavor – but avoid the vanilla until it’s reformulated (if that ever occurs).
