   I’ve been a long time user of ground flaxseed, having used it for several years in my morning oatmeal as well as in smoothies and protein drinks. I thought this would have a similar taste but it does not. It tastes like linseed oil, which is an edible oil but is also used in paints and varnishes. Yes, it does come from the flax plant so there is absolutely no danger of poisoning or anything of that nature, but it does not have the nutty taste I’ve come to expect from the ground flax seed that I have used. Unfortunately I can’t eat this, so I’m going to feed it to my horses, for whom flax is also highly beneficial. I think I will have to start with a small amount first and build up though or they most likely won’t eat it either.

   To me this protein powder tastes what I imagine grass would taste like. It’s very earthy and not my favorite flavor. I would think this would be better suited for a green or berry smoothie vs. something more dessert-ish like peanut butter, banana or chocolate. It’s more finely milled than I expected and that’s nice. Plus, flaxseed is great for you. The flavor is what’s hurting this stuff for me.
