Awesome product

It took a lot of effort to get the lid open. I’ve seen poorly constructed packaging, but this is a clear winner in bad design. It seems like their goal was to limit access to the product which seems like a bad idea for business. The product itself is a great value. I appreciate the lack of added / artificial ingredients. 8lbs of isolate of this quality under $50 – I’ll deal with the hard to open lid.

Amazing value and great price. I’ve been using protein supplements for more than 25 years, always aiming for the best quality and value. I’m very satisfied with this Whey Isolate and also tested it at home by pouring boiling water on top of the powder and, as expected by a high-quality whey, it created lumps instead of dissolving. Btw it dissolves perfectly fine in cold/regular temperature water and even soymilk!

great value

According to the label, the net weight should be right at 53 oz so I put it on my digital scale and that’s exactly what I got (or 3.3 pounds.) The whole gallon thing is a bit misleading.
Anyway, this is the same whey isolate packaged by many brands on the market with sunflower lecithin added so that it doesn’t clump together. At least to me, it tastes the same, looks the same and blends with whole milk the same.
At current prices, it’s not terrible at $.90 per oz, but there are better values out there; Nutricost in 5 lb containers being one of them. If you want pure whey, then you’ll want to look at the more expensive concentrates as they usually don’t have lecithin added. And read the labels very carefully because nearly every supplement company will try to sneak something past you!

Tasted like absolutely nothing was very disgusting. Didn’t come with a scoop so didn’t know how much you actually were putting in your protein drink. Which is never good when you are trying to get jacked. Add some flavor when you are drinking a protein shake you need flavor to even swallow it down.

Needed to get the lid open by starting with a pair of pliers, then it peeled off easily by hand. There wasn’t a scoop in the bucket that I received, only a moisture absorber. I use a 14.7cc scoop from a dog fiber container which equals, according to a measurement conversion for protein powder website, 7.3g of protein/scoop. I soon discovered that this powder is flavorless in a glass of water. Too, while it clumped and didn’t dissolve in hot coffee, it dissolved easily, simply stirred into cold water and juices, Greek yogurt… any cold, liquidy food or beverage without having to putts with a blender to make smoothies. Using the calculator on the Harvard Heath website, based on gender, age, weight, height and activity level, I should get 60g of protein/day, which isn’t always that easy for me at regular meals; I rarely have any afternoon meals, for example. According to the Mayo Clinic website, a person should aim for 15-30g of protein at one meal sitting. Studies show that getting more/sitting is not more beneficial (it won’t be absorbed) and is a waste of $. As an old guy, who still lifts weights (since 9th grade), I’m aiming at stopping muscle mass loss and perhaps even increasing it some over time. The easy addition of this protein powder to my diet will ensure that I’m able to get the amount that I need/day to remain a better-than-average-healthy-and-active old guy.

If you require protein supplementation, this is an economical deal. I’ll add vanilla extract and or cocoa powder if I need it flavored. Stevia drops can add sweetness if you’re not adding fruit to your shake. Container is great for storing stuff after too— like legos (if you’re the type to hold onto stuff like this)
