   I have not had good luck with chocolate flavored protein powders in the past. Often, they have had either an artificial or a chalky taste, neither of which is desirable. Additionally, I typically don’t like products that include stevia as I find them to be overly sweet. Thus, it was with some trepidation that I decide to try this cacao protein powder from Common Ground. However, I liked the overall nutritional profile, and I was also looking for some variety as I have been using a vanilla protein powder from another vegan brand for the past few months. I am glad I took a chance on this as it is a quality product that tastes much better than expected. This powder arrives in a large, plastic tub that had a tight safety seal and a best buy date of 4/2026. Upon removing the inner covering, I was pleased to see that the powder looked fresh and had a nice, chocolatey aroma. Easy to read instructions are printed on the back of the label and recommend mixing one scoop of powder (which is the serving size) with 6-12 ounces of water or nut/seed milk. One serving contains 110 calories, 15g of protein, and 0g of added sugar. As a petite female who regularly strength trains, this combination is ideal for me. The first time I tried this, I mixed it with 6 ounces of unsweetened almond milk in a Blender Bottle. The powder dissolved quickly, and more importantly, entirely – no chunks were left behind at the bottom of the cup. The resulting liquid was thick and silky smooth, and VERY rich tasting, almost too much so. The next time, I used around 8.5 ounces of almond milk, and the taste was more palatable to me. I have also added this to smoothies made in my blender, specifically with nut milk, peanut butter, and a banana. This might be my favorite way to use it as I get a delicious “shake” that tastes like a treat but is actually pretty healthy. Another thing worth noting, is that this product has not caused any digestive issues – no stomach aches, bloating, or other concerns that can sometimes accompany products such as these. At the time of ordering (and this review), this powder is priced at $59.99 ($50.99 via subscribe and save) for just under 28 ounces. The canister claims to have (30) servings/scoops in it, making each drink cost $2 if you are paying full price. This is definitely on the pricy end of the spectrum, which means this will be an “occasional” vs. “regular” purchase for me.

   I’ve tried so many plant based protein powders with the hopes that I can find one that doesn’t have the persistent “grit” and I’m afraid to say, I have yet to find it. At this point, I’m pretty sure is just a side effect of the raw materials as I’ve tried at least a dozen plant based protein powders and they all share this characteristic. This Earth Fed Chocolate flavor mixes well and has a nice chocolate flavor without being overly sweet. I’m usually using these protein powders for meal replacement and being keto, I’m happy to have a bit more fat in the form of MCT oils as long as there are no sugars. Overall, if you don’t mind that subtle gritty quality that coats your tongue, then this is a great product. Compared to other pea based protein powders, I would rate the flavor on the high end of the scale. I just wish they were able to get the “grit” out of these pea based protein powders.

   I have been enjoying this vegan and gluten-free protein shake. I especially appreciate the quality ingredients (predominately organic) and the plant-based protein… AND it tastes great! It’s very chocolaty and satisfying, but not terribly sweet – I feel like the sweetness level is just right. The only sweetener listed is organic stevia which can sometimes leave an aftertaste, but I don’t get any aftertaste at all with this one. From an ingredient standpoint, it has 15g protein (from hemp, pea, and goji juice powder). It adds 110 calories , 3g of fat, 5g of carbs, 0g of sugars and 3g of fiber to your day. I mix with a scoop of powder with about 4oz of milk and 4oz of water (8oz total) and the consistency is on the thicker side, which I enjoy. (The instructions say to add 1 scoop to 6-12oz of liquid.) This one is an all-around winner for ingredient quality, great nutritionals and taste!

   Now THIS is one delicious smooth chocolate protein shake! Toss a scoop into a whisk shaker or blender and prepare to enter cacao bliss! The taste takes me back to sampling pure cacao in Cozumel! Blends quick with no clumps, picture uploaded showing the smooth results after a few shakes. No upset stomach either, I’m drinking two a day now because I loved the taste so much.

   Earth Fed Muscle’s Chocolate Protein Powder is good tasting protein powder that is amongst the best tasting vegan protein powders I have ever tasted. It mixes well and has no sugar at all which is fantastic (it does use stevia but that does not bother me). The powder is made in a GMP certified facility which lends more credibility to the quality of the powder and ingredients. My biggest gripe is the value when factoring in a serving is only 15g of protein. You are looking at two scoops to match most other protein powders in the 25g to 30g range per serving. A container of this powder only ends up being 15 servings when you double scoop and that is a significant price per serving. If you can justify the price and enjoy this powder, it may be worth it to you. It is a good protein powder that tastes good and comes from excellent ingredients.
