   Recieved mine today and this is not the product shown in the picture. I’ve always ordered bluebonnet and it always has looked like what the picture shows. Today I recieved what looks like some knock off or generic brand. It tastes much sweeter than normal and is very chunky when mixing unlike before. This seems nothing like the original product and what I should of received. Be warned when purchasing this product. Picture below is what I recieved today. This will be returned for sure. Not happy at all with the purchase. Has anyone else received the same thing as me and not what’s shown in the pic?

   I have been using this product for a while but I am noticing some difference with this particular one I bought from bestproteinpowder4women.net. Its kind of not mixing well with water. All the previous one doesn’t have this problem. There are also previous reviews/feedback regarding this but I am not sure why this problem is happening with this particular bottle! Attached is a picture after shaking for a brief 30 seconds and I can still see some paste deposited at the bottom of the bottle.

   I used this product before but I bought it at a store. So I was trying to be cheap and instead of paying $60 at GNC I figured i’d buy it here. When I open the jar this is what I got. I guess next time I’ll just get it from GNC at least the bottle will be full.

   I have tried a few other unflavored whey proteins and this is by far the best I’ve tried. For me, the criteria for whey protein is pretty simple: 1) Needs to mix well – this one mixes very well with a spoon and a little water (always mixes better with water than anything else), 2) Needs to not taste bad – ok, it doesn’t need to taste GOOD, but it shouldn’t taste bad. This one actually tastes GOOD! I think because it’s smooth with a neutral taste, but there is vanilla in the ingredients to give it just a hint of vanilla. Not strong, but just enough that it tastes pleasant. 3) Needs not to have a lot of crazy ingredients – Ok, this has some soy lecithin. For me, I don’t care. Almost everything has soy lecithin. But it doesn’t have any sucralose or anything else. 4) Not too expensive – this one is on par (cost per gram of protein) as most of the other protein powders.

   UPDATE: I downgraded my rating of this. I tried it again and it was hard to stomach alone. It’s still a high quality protein, but I don’t think it’s worth the extra price. Now I use NOW Protein.

    Why do we seek out original (almost non-flavored) pure whey protein isolate? For the unadulterated whey. Do we seek out “original” and “natural” whey for added cholesterol, calories, and lower potassium than the old formulation of the same product? Well, I sure as heck don’t, but that is what we are currently stuck with in this reformulated product. Ever since finding poor quality control in Optimum Nutrition Any Whey (tons of black bits looking liked chopped insect pieces) I switched to Blue Bonnet Whey Protein Isolate (WPI) Original. Now it looks like I will have to switch to something else again. Blue Bonnet WPI up until a month ago was virtually cholesterol free at <1mg cholesterol per scoop serving. Now potassium and other nutrients are DOWN per serving and cholesterol is UP from <1mg to 15mg which is 5% of the daily recommended intake. I believe the drastic increase in cholesterol and slight increase in calories is due to the addition of MCT oil. This is otherwise known as medium-chain-triglycerides which usually comes from palm oil. This cholesterol is probably okay if you take one scoop a day. But I am vegetarian and a body builder so I regularly take 2 – 5 scoops per day depending on the rest of my dietary protein intake. That means just because of some crap MCT oil which totally is NOT original and NOT part of the “100% pure whey” I would potentially take in 10% – 20% of the DRI of cholesterol on something I don’t even want to take. The science behind including MCT in athletic supplements is fuzzy at best and has not been nearly as well studied as Creatine and Whey for example. If you go to Web MD MCT also has some pretty nasty side effects possible which IMO completely negate any possible benefit from taking MCT. The only potential positive for this new formulation is that the soy lecithin has been switched to a sunflower lecithin source for those who have soy issues (I do not). A shame really because it’s hard to find a “pure” WPI without tons of cholesterol, fat, and other ridiculous additives that may or may not do more harm than good. I REALLY wish Blue Bonnet would have kept the old formula (perhaps with sunflower lecithin instead of Soy) and made a new “enhanced” product with the MCT oil. That way people like me (and maybe you) could have fairly pure straight and simple WPI, and people who wanted an MCT kick could get that as well! ***December 2013 Update*** Blue Bonnet responded to me asking about the new formulation. The source is no longer New Zealand grass fed cow milk for the whey. It is now from US grass fed cows… I don’t understand why the nutrition profile is so different and am saddened, but on the other hand what *good* alternatives are there that don’t add lots of crap to the whey protein??? ***November 2015 update*** Blue Bonnet is still the brand to beat & I’ve looked far & wide so I’ve bumped up my review to 3 stars from 1. I no longer supplement with this product but instead Blue Bonnet’s Dual Action protein powder. I had some technical questions regarding the casein & whey content in the product & it was clear a freaking PhD scientist responded & it was awesome. I was concerned with the ratio of whey to casein & why they used the types of casein in their formulation and the response and rationale as well as *very hard to find* research studies peer reviewed to back it up.

    This whey protein is just great all around. Great tasting, natural, and they no longer use soy lechitin. I have been searching a while for a decent grass fed whey protein that tasted great and also didnt contain soy lecithin as I consume whey protein several times a day(so that intake adds up). This use to have soy lechitin in it, but the company has since moved onto using sunflower lecithin instead. The disclaimer though is that it is manufactured in a facility that also manufactures almonds, soy, and nuts. I’m not allergic to soy or anything, so this does not bother me as I just prefer it to not actually be a part of the product ingredient as a lot of products have soy ingredients nowadays. I used optimum nutrition natural whey which tasted nasty, plus has soy lechitin and other questionable ingredients. Then I went to revergeance organic grass fed whey. Which was not bad and use sunflower lechitin as well. The only problem I had was it only came in a 14 ounce size that was a little over20 dollars. Plus no additional BCAA(branch chain amino acids) since I work out. So I found this. I use this in recipes, as well as just drinking it with water or almond milk. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone that works out or just wants to live a healthy lifestyle. I have only had the Vanilla flavor, but I do plan on trying the other favors.

    I was so excited to get this product from a reputable company, when it arrived I saw the proposition 65 warning. Don’t get me wrong I understand that much of our food nowadays is full of toxins and poisons. But I’m damn sure not gonna put this in my body knowing that the amount of lead could be above average compared to just eating a chicken breast.

    I started with the vanilla, which is delicious. I also felt better, because I don’t get enough protein. Then I started realizing the stevia gives me horrible insomnia, which immediately stopped when I ran out. Then I tried the original, no flavor, no stevia flavor. It’s not bad like some people say. Doesn’t taste like a milkshake, but does not really have flavor. Can easily be added to smoothies if you can’t handle throwing it in some water real quick like I tend to do.

    This Whey Protein Isolate is the best I have see. By far. I did some research and actually found out a lot about proteins. This one is the best all natural protien. No Soy! No Sugar! None of the yucky stuff!! I love it and can’t wait to get other favors.
