   Update (9/17/23): The mixed consistency of this is rather thick. The flavor is not sweet, and leave a funny after taste. Might be very nutritious for you, but not pleasant to drink. Summary: Pea and whey are common proteins sources, so this offering by ZORGANIX, which is black rice based, is different. Fully ingredient list provided on package. Observations: Recent trend seems to omit the manufacturer; this packaging states “Manufactured for Zorganix”, but that doesn’t say by who, and where it was made. Pros: Individually packaged for convenience. Cons: Cost, $2.60/serving; manufacturer ambiguous. Conclusion: At $39 for 15 servings ($2.60/serving), rating this 1-stars (cost, new manufacturer, manufacturer/origin not specified).

   It doesn’t taste disgusting, but it doesn’t taste very good either. Which is a shame, because there are a lot of good minerals and vitamins in this. I’ve tried mixing it with water, and I’ve tried mixing it with milk, I got the chocolate flavored and I added a little bit of chocolate syrup to it, which made it a little bit more tolerable. It’s not something you’re going to sip on and enjoy the taste. You’re going to mix it, and gulp it down as quickly as possible. After shaking it up, there is just a little bit of grit to it, but not bad.

   The ingredient list for this organic plant-based protein meal replacement powder is excellent – you really get a lot for your cup, at a very reasonable calorie count (260 calories). There is no need to add greens to this, as it already includes much of what you would get from the greens. The texture is kind of grainy, and the chocolate taste is somewhat mild (it’s definitely not creamy). I wouldn’t say it tastes “good”, but it is tolerable. Overall, this product is a good value for use as a full meal replacement.

   I think this is a good product based on what it aims to do. It is plant based and is a meal replacement. I definitely did not get hungry for several hours after eating it. However, I did not like the taste at all. Maybe I should have tried vanilla instead of chocolate. It was very bitter and I had to force myself to finish it. I do like that it is 15 individual packets so that you can take it with you on the go and mix it where ever you are.

   We do use chocolate protein powders on a regular basis, so we have tried quite a few brands over the years. (We like using them to supplement our diet with additional protein, vitamins, and minerals.)

   We were impressed with the amount of nutrients, vitamins, and minerals in each Zorganix pouch, as this brand definitely surpasses the nutritional value of our current protein powder brand. It also offers convenient serving sizes, so it was super easy to prepare in busy mornings. It is extremely low in calories…only 260 calories per serving, and very high in protein, 35 grams! It is also vegan, nonGMO, gluten-free, dairy-free, and soy free, supporting people who have those dietary needs, so that was another plus.
   Despite us following the directions and seeing all the positives and benefits of this product, we just couldn’t love it. We felt that the chocolate flavor was not to our particular tastes. For reference, we tried mixing it with water alone at first, as this is the suggested preparation method, then tried almond milk with it. We even tried using it as a base for an avocado shake. Even though we tried to love this one, at the end of the day, it just wasn’t for us.

   I really wanted to like this protein powder because of the many healthy ingredients in it, but I couldn’t do the taste. After one sip I quickly realized it wasn’t for me. The chocolate taste is barely there and if you’re used to protein powders that use sugar or sweeteners, this is a pretty noticeable difference. The packaging is convenient and you can take them on the go which is a plus.
